Hai Phong Eye Hospital is a second-level specialized hospital, a second-group autonomous unit (autonomous frequent expenditure), and the city's highest specialized level; a public non-business unit under Hai Phong Department of Health established on October 9, 2008 (according to Decision 1667/QD-UBND, dated October 9, 2008 of the Hai Phong People's Committee). The hospital operates in accordance with Decision 2798/QD-UBND dated September 18, 2023 of the Chairman of the Hai Phong People's Committee on regulating the functions, duties, powers, and organizational structure of Hai Phong Eye Hospital, which is administered by the Hai Phong Department of Health. The hospital now has 70 beds and serves residents of the city and surrounding regions by diagnosing and treating eye disorders.

In 2023, the Hai Phong Eye Hospital's Party Cell was elevated to the status of Party Department, reporting to the Hai Phong Department of Health Party Committee. The Party Committee has three associated Party Cells (Administration Branch, Specialization Branch, and On-Demand High Technical Services Department). The Party Committee has 45 members, while the Party Executive Committee has 5 members.

The hospital continues to maintain solidarity and unity, actively strives to build a Green - Clean - Beautiful Hospital, innovates service style and attitude, improves the quality of medical examination and treatment, and meets the increasing requirements in the care and protection of people's health; aiming to make Hai Phong Eye Hospital the city's first-level specialized hospital by 2025.
